The chamber aims to foster collaboration, innovation, and sustainable business practices, positioning Bangladesh as an attractive destination for European investment.
The launch event, held in Dhaka, features prominent attendees, including Lutfey Siddiqi, chief adviser’s special envoy for international affairs, Md Abdur Rahman Khan, chairman of the National Board of Revenue, and Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, executive chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority. Several European ambassadors and business leaders will also participate.
EuroCham’s founding chairperson, Nuria Lopez, a seasoned European entrepreneur with over three decades of experience in Bangladesh, emphasizes the chamber’s role in addressing challenges faced by European investors, such as bureaucratic hurdles, energy issues, and tax complexities.
The EU is Bangladesh’s largest trading partner, with 20.7% of total trade in 2023. EuroCham aims to support Bangladesh’s transition after its LDC graduation and attract increased European investment by enhancing trade relations and advocating reforms. Founding member Tanvir Ahmed highlights that the initiative aligns with Bangladesh’s economic reform ambitions, promising mutual growth for both regions.
