The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) today urged the National Board of Revenue (NBR) to extend the timeframe for submitting income tax returns by another one month till December 31, 2022.

FBCCI President Md Jashim Uddin in a letter, sent to the Senior Secretary of the Internal Resources Division (IRD) and also NBR Chairman Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Muneem, made the request considering the current global economic situation and bigger challenges now being faced by the industries, trade, and commerce as well as service sectors.

It is not possible for many people to submit the returns within the stipulated timeframe of November 30 due to the existing situation in the financial sector, the letter stated.

Under the circumstances, the FBCCI demanded an extension of the timeframe by another month to facilitate the valued taxpayers in paying their income tax.

The FBCCI President also thanked the NBR Chairman for his relentless efforts towards increasing the revenue collection as well as increasing the tax-GDP ratio of the country.
