March inflation in Bangladesh rises to 9.33%

The general point-to-point inflation rate in March increased as it reached 9.33 percentage points up from 8.78 percentage points in February mainly because of the slight rise in food inflation.

The general point-to-point inflation rate in January last was 8.57  percentage points, according to the monthly consumer price (CPI) index of the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).

The point-to-point food inflation in March increased to 9.09 percentage points up from 8.13 percentage points in February.

Moreover, the point-to-point non-food inflation declined slightly to 9.72 percentage points in March down from 9.82 percentage points in February.

The BBS data showed that the national wage index rate in March was 7.18% up from 7.11% in February.
