Twenty-three Italian textile machinery manufacturers will participate in Colombiatex, Colombia’s leading textile fair, taking place in Medellín from January 28 to 30, 2025. This highlights the strong relationship between Italian suppliers and the Colombian textile industry.
Despite a decline in Colombian demand for textile machinery in the first nine months of 2024, the country remains a key market for Italian manufacturers. In 2023, Italy ranked as Colombia’s second-largest technology supplier after China, with exports worth approximately €13 million. By September 2024, Italian machinery exports to Colombia reached €8 million.
Marco Salvadè, President of ACIMIT, emphasized Colombia’s significant growth in its textile and clothing industry, supported by technological upgrades often involving Italian machinery. Colombiatex remains a vital event for Italian manufacturers to strengthen ties with Colombian partners.
International Textile Manufacturer Federation (ITMF) has released its International Textile Industry Statistics (ITIS), detailing productive capacity and raw material consumption in the short-staple organized spinning sector across nearly all textile-producing nations. The report incorporates a revised calculation method and updated historical data.
