Oerlikon Neumag BCF S+ helps expanding Carpet manufacturing in Asia
Chinese carpet yarn manufacturer Zhejiang Sitong New Material Technology Co., Ltd. is expanding its polyester production capabilities with the addition of an Oerlikon Neumag BCF S+ system. This new equipment allows the company to balance its production across polyester, polyamide, and polypropylene yarns.
The BCF S+ system, known for its versatility, efficiently produces high-quality polyamide 6 yarn even when optimized for polyester production. Sitong, one of Asia’s largest BCF yarn producers with an annual capacity of 50,000 tons, is responding to rising demand for polyester carpet yarn by adding four BCF S+ positions. “Our strategy is to maintain a broad product portfolio, making us resilient to trends and market shifts,” said Tang Liang, Sitong’s president and owner. He cited longstanding success with European technology since 2002, reinforcing the company’s preference for Oerlikon Neumag systems in polyester production.
The BCF S+ Monocolor system offers flexibility in yarn production, easily switching between polyester and high-quality polyamide 6 yarns, giving Sitong a strong competitive edge. “Trends are increasingly short-lived, so being able to produce different polymers on the same system without compromising quality is a significant advantage,” Tang added.
Asia’s carpet market is experiencing rapid growth, with demand particularly strong in China due to a post-pandemic resurgence in tourism and the automotive sector. Sun Peng, Sales Director at Oerlikon Neumag in China, noted a sharp increase in hotel renovations and new builds, adding to the demand for carpet yarns, as businesses address the backlog of renovations delayed during the pandemic.
