Strong export growth seen in November
Merchandise exports in November surged by 15.63% year-on-year to $4.11 billion, driven primarily by robust garment shipments, which rose by 16.25% to $3.30 billion, according to data released by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) today. EPB shared the export performance at a press conference held at its office in Dhaka.
Export Promotion Bureau reported that during the July-November period of FY25, the ready-made garment sector earned $16.11 billion, a 12.34% increase from $14.34 billion in the same period of FY24. Within the RMG sector, knitwear exports rose by 12.23% to $8.95 billion, compared to $7.97 billion, while woven garments grew by 12.48% to $7.17 billion, up from $6.37 billion.
Home textiles saw a 5.03% growth after a period of slow increases, reaching $326.83 million, up from $311.19 million in FY24. Agricultural exports also grew, rising by 8.34% to $495.38 million, compared to $457.25 million in the same period last fiscal year.
However, jute and jute goods faced a 9.99% decline in earnings, falling to $341.70 million from $379.62 million in FY24. Positive trends were observed in other sectors, with leather and leather goods exports increasing by 7.61% to $466.39 million, up from $433.42 million. Engineering products also grew by 5.70%, earning $205.80 million compared to $194.71 million in the same period of FY24.
