Again blockade in RMG factory in Ashulia

A ready-made garments factory in Ashulia’s Jamgra area, Madinaple Fashion Craft Ltd, has filed a case against 20 workers for allegedly vandalizing the factory and assaulting its officials. The factory was subsequently closed under Section 13/1 of the Bangladesh Labour Act, and a notice listing the accused workers was displayed at the factory gate. The factory accused the workers of disrupting operations with illegitimate demands and causing chaos on September 10th.

One of the accused workers, Nahid, denied the allegations, stating that they merely requested payment and early leave due to unrest in nearby factories. He also mentioned that workers demanded the removal of Deputy Manager SK Khokon, citing multiple instances of worker mistreatment and sexual harassment of female employees.

Khokon, however, denied the allegations and claimed that workers unjustly attacked him and other staff, leading to serious injuries. Ashulia Police confirmed three cases have been filed regarding factory attacks and vandalism, with investigations underway.

Khairul Mamun Mintu, of the Bangladesh Garment and Sweater Sramik Trade Union Kendra, criticized the decision to file cases against workers, arguing it would further provoke unrest instead of addressing their legitimate demands.
