RMG workers urged to revise national budget to allocate rationing for them

Garment workers’ organizations held protests and symbolic hunger strikes on June 27, demanding a separate budget allocation and a rationing system for garment workers. The events took place in front of the National Press Club and Ashulia Press Club, organized by the Women’s Committee of the National Garment Workers Federation (NGWF). NGWF Central President Amirul Haque Amin criticized the absence of a ration system in the budget, despite previous government promises.

Leaders highlighted the garment industry’s significant contribution to exports and the high percentage of female workers, urging budget provisions for them. The National Garment Solidarity also demanded the abolition of tax exemptions for undisclosed assets.
