4 new factories received LEED certification
Four new factories in Bangladesh—Basic Shirts Limited, Aptech Caswier Ltd, Ananta Jeanswear Ltd, and Big Boss Corporation Ltd—have been certified as LEED Platinum, reflecting significant progress in sustainable industrial growth. This brings the total number of LEED-certified factories in Bangladesh to 224, with 88 Platinum and 122 Gold rated. Bangladesh now boasts 59 of the top 100 highest-rated LEED-certified factories globally.
Mohiuddin Rubel, director of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), noted that this milestone underscores Bangladesh’s advancements in green manufacturing, enhancing environmental sustainability and the global competitiveness of its textile and garment industry. The United States Green Building Council (USGBC) has been awarding LEED certification in Bangladesh since 2001.
