All Bangladeshi product’s duty free access to China starts from December
BTJ Desk Report
Starting December 1, 2023, Bangladesh and other least developed countries (LDCs) will enjoy zero-tariff access to China for all products. This decision by China’s Tariff Commission grants duty-free access to LDCs with diplomatic ties to China, including 33 African nations. This move makes China the first major economy to offer such access.
Previously, China granted duty-free access to 98% of Bangladeshi goods in 2022, up from 97% in 2020. China is Bangladesh’s largest trading partner, with exports to Bangladesh valued at over $18.6 billion in 2022-23, while Bangladesh’s exports to China totaled around $676 million.
