AmCham discussion with BIDA on trade facilitation
American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham) hosted a dialogue with Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, executive chairman of BIDA and BEZA, at the Westin Hotel, Dhaka. The event focused on enhancing trade facilitation and attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) in Bangladesh. Key attendees included John Fay from the US Embassy, AmCham President Syed Ershad Ahmed, and several industry leaders.
Discussions emphasized the need for customs automation, streamlining legal processes, and improving BIDA’s One-Stop Service portal. AmCham members shared challenges and recommendations, including long-term policy continuity, service improvements, and branding Bangladesh as an attractive investment destination. Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun acknowledged the feedback and highlighted BIDA’s efforts to support trade facilitation and resolve key issues raised during the session.
