BGMEA seeks cooperation from Indonesia
Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has sought cooperation from Indonesia to boost garment and textile exports. BGMEA President Faruk Hasan expressed his desire for collaboration during a meeting with Indonesia’s Ambassador to Bangladesh, Heru Hartanto Subolo.
During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the garment and textile sector, emphasizing mutual growth and increasing bilateral trade relations. Various topics related to mutual trade and investment opportunities were included in the discussion. Both parties expressed interest in working together to fully utilize the potential of mutual trade and investment in the garment industry.
BGMEA President Faruk Hasan stated, “Bangladesh has increased its focus on diversifying and enhancing the quality of garments, especially by using man-made fibers, resulting in the production of high-value garments. Bangladesh can import man-made fibers from Indonesia.”
In line with the ambassador’s intentions, Faruk Hasan encouraged increased Indonesian investment in the man-made textile sector in Bangladesh. He expressed enthusiasm for boosting garment exports to the Indonesian market and sought the ambassador’s cooperation in this regard.
Faruk Hasan also requested collaboration between BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT) and Indonesian Fashion Institute. The goal is to provide support for the education and skills development of BUFT students in areas such as fashion design, product development, technology, and other relevant fields.
