BGMEA thanks joint forces for giving factory securities

Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) expressed gratitude to joint forces for their support in maintaining law and order in the ready-made garment (RMG) industry. Acting president Abdullah Hill Rakib thanked the Bangladesh Army, Industrial Police, DGFI, NSI, and BGB during a meeting at the BGMEA Complex in Dhaka, where the industry’s current challenges were discussed.

Rakib acknowledged that, despite the acceptance of workers’ 18-point demands, some factories experienced disruptions due to rumors and external instigations. However, joint forces intervened promptly to resolve issues and ensure factory operations continued smoothly.

The meeting also addressed recent unrest, including a clash at Mango Tex Limited, where false rumors led to violence, resulting in one worker’s death and injuries to others. Garment owners expressed concern that vested interests were fueling the unrest and requested stronger security measures.

The joint forces assured enhanced security in industrial areas and urged garment factory owners to continue operations. Labor leaders were also engaged in the discussions and were encouraged to communicate to workers that any damage to factories would harm both the workers and the nation. All parties agreed to collaborate to maintain a stable working environment.
