BGMEA unveils the schedule of ‘Made in Bangladesh Week’

The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has unveiled the program schedule for the upcoming ‘Made in Bangladesh Week’ which is going to hold from November 12 to November 18 at the ICCB of the capital in partnering with the Bangladesh Apparel Exchange (BAE).

Faruque Hassan, president of the BGMEA unveiled the schedule at a press conference at the BGMEA office in the capital on Saturday.

 “The ‘Made in Bangladesh Week’ special initiative aimed at creating opportunities by presenting the important and positive aspects of our garment industry to the world, changing the global perception of the ‘Made in Bangladesh’ brand by developing the image of the garment industry and presenting Bangladesh’s garment industry as a sustainable and innovative industry to international brands and retailers,” he said.

BGMEA is going to organize a 7-day Made in Bangladesh Week along with the 50th year of independence to highlight the achievements as a nation and the contribution of the Bangladeshi garment industry in the last 40 years to the international arena.

This is the first such week-long event for the garment industry and through this, besides branding the industry, Bangladesh will try to convey the important message to the world that they are turning around from the pandemic and working with priority on the sustainable industry.

“This will not only be significant for the garment industry but also showcase our achievements as a country,” said Faruque Hassan.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given her kind consent to the inauguration of “Made in Bangladesh Week” as the chief guest on November 13.

According to the BGMEA, the main events of the Made in Bangladesh will be the 37th IAF World Fashion Convention, 3rd Dhaka Apparel Summit (November 14-16), Dhaka Apparel Exposition, Bangladesh Denim Expo (November 15-16), MIB Photography Award (November 18), NRB Award (November 16), Sustainable Leadership Award (November 17), and Sustainable Fashion and Innovation Award (November 16), Fashion Show (November 16).

Concurrently with the Made in Bangladesh Week, the Global Launching of BGMEA Innovation Centre will be held on November 18.

There will also be panel discussions, seminars, cultural programs, and workshops at BUFT.
