Satkhira Economic Zone is expected to attract $1 billion in investment and create 6,000 direct jobs, according to Shaikh Yusuf Harun, executive chairman of the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA). Speaking at a workshop in Khulna, Harun emphasized BEZA’s goal to foster investment, planned industrialization, and employment. BEZA has approved 97 economic zones, with 29 under construction and 13 operational. Notable projects include the Mongla Economic Zone in Khulna, a 200-acre zone in Kotalipara, a 430-acre zone in Bheramara, and a zone in Batiaghata with 262 acres of land provided by the Satkhira district administration.
