CEPA may be signed between Bangladesh and India to expand trade and Investment
Bangladesh may be seen signing the much awaited CEPA (Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement) with its neighboring country India to expand trade and investment. Report says, the ministries have discussed the issue internally and agreed to go ahead with signing.
According to reports, a decision to this end was reached at a recent inter-ministerial meeting chaired by the Senior Secretary of Commerce Ministry Tapan Kanti Ghosh, and attended by officials of Labour, Foreign, Commerce and Home Affairs ministries and other Government departments and agencies. Bangladesh is all set to join the league of developing nations in 2026; this CEPA is a part of the Bangladesh Government’s effort to sign trade deals with major trading partners to retain duty benefits following the LDC transition.
