Denmark is willing to invest 1.3 billion USD in Bangladesh in wind power generation

Denmark has expressed interest in investing $1.3 billion in wind energy production in coastal areas of Bangladesh. During the courtesy meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on 19th July, the outgoing ambassador of Denmark, Winnie Istrup Petersen, expressed this interest. Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim later briefed the journalists on this matter.

After the meeting, Ihsanul Karim said that the Prime Minister sought the help of friendly countries like Denmark for the development of Bangladesh. Sheikh Hasina mentioned that 100 Special Economic Zones have been established across the country, where both foreign and domestic investments are needed. At this time, the outgoing ambassador of Denmark informed about Denmark’s interest in investing 1.3 billion US dollars in Bangladesh in the production of wind power in the coastal area.

The Prime Minister and the Ambassador appreciated each other the 50 years of development partnership between Bangladesh and Denmark. The Press Secretary also said that Ambassador Winnie Ostrup Petersen highly appreciated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s leadership in the socio-economic development of Bangladesh.
