Direct shipping route between Karachi and Chittagong will boost business
Direct shipping route between Karachi and Chittagong has opened new opportunities for Bangladesh’s foreign trade, said CPA Chairman Rear Admiral SM Moniruzzaman during a press conference. The direct route bypasses transshipment ports like Colombo and Singapore, significantly reducing time and costs for trade.
The vessel MV Yang Xiang Fa Zhan arrived at Chittagong port on November 11, carrying 328 import containers from Karachi and Dubai’s Jebel Ali port, before departing for Indonesia.
Despite an initial under-load due to low import demand, the shipping liner plans to maintain the route if container volumes increase. This new route is expected to strengthen trade ties and enhance logistical efficiency between Bangladesh, Pakistan, and other regional hubs.
