29th edition of the month-long Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) will begin on January 1, 2025, in Purbachal, Dhaka. Organized by the Ministry of Commerce and the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), the fair is Bangladesh’s largest product exhibition, held annually at the Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre (BCFEC). This year’s event will highlight the success of the ‘Anti-discrimination Student Movement’ with a special corner, “Mugdho,” honoring Mir Mahfuzur Rahman Mugdho, who died in the movement, alongside a photo exhibition.
The EPB’s meeting discussed the administrative and financial policies for the fair, including the formation of subcommittees, stall pricing, and entry tickets. Security will be ensured by law enforcement agencies, with 11 committees overseeing the event. Entrepreneurs will be prioritized for stall allocation, with dedicated spaces for women, people with disabilities, disadvantaged ethnic communities, and cottage industries. The fair promises to showcase a wide range of products, including textiles, handicrafts, and weavers’ goods.
