Bangladesh and Singapore expressed satisfaction over the start of Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations, hoping it would enhance economic ties. During a meeting between Singapore’s High Commissioner Derek Loh Eu-Tse and Bangladesh’s Foreign Secretary Md. Jashim Uddin, both sides discussed collaboration on mutual interests.
Bangladesh’s foreign secretary highlighted reform initiatives by the interim government and requested Singapore’s support in experience sharing and technical cooperation. He also urged Singapore, as part of ASEAN, to aid in the repatriation of Rohingya refugees to Myanmar and supported Bangladesh’s bid to become an ASEAN sectoral Dialogue Partner.
