Labor unrest is a conspiracy to destroy RMG sector

At a recent meeting, RMG manufacturers claimed that the ongoing labor unrest in the industry is not driven by worker dissatisfaction, but is a plot by a third party to destabilize the sector. The event, organized by the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), suggested that external forces are using misinformation and inciting unrest to harm the industry and the economy.

BGMEA members, including Nexus Group Managing Director Abdur Rashid Hossaini, argued that those with interests in destabilizing Bangladesh’s economy are exploiting the RMG sector to create chaos. Former BGMEA directors Lutfe Mawla Ayyub and Faisal Samad also highlighted the spread of misinformation and the need for practical solutions to protect the industry from further disruptions.

Mahmud Hasan Khan Babu, managing director of Rising Group, stated that the disturbances in Ashulia are more about law and order than labor issues, further indicating third-party interference. The meeting called for collective efforts to address the root causes of the unrest and to safeguard the country’s critical RMG sector.
