Bangladesh is all set to join the league of developing nations soon, which would however come with its own share of challenges as the country will be shorn of the trade benefits that it currently enjoys as a least developed country (LDC).

Keeping the same in perspective, media reports citing the sources claimed Bangladesh along with other members of the LDC group is likely to seek continuation of the existing trade facilities from all the parties concerned for a period of six years post the LDC transition.

“The LDCs group is going to seek the flexibility of the existing facilities for six more years after the graduation,” meanwhile claimed the Director General at the WTO Cell – Ministry of Commerce (MoC) Md. Hafizur Rahman spoke to the media even as he reportedly underlined extension of the existing trade facilities would help the LDCs to get preferential treatment for an easy transition during their graduation and post-graduation period.
