The Prime Minister proposed to Bhutan to build an economic zone in Kurigram

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina proposed to King Jigme Khesar Namgel Wangchuck of Bhutan to build an economic zone in Kurigram.

The King and Queen Jetsun Pemar of Bhutan met with the Prime Minister at Claridge’s Hotel in London on Saturday afternoon (May 6) UK local time. In the meeting, the King of Bhutan made this proposal to Sheikh Hasina. Sheikh Hasina said, ‘We are establishing an economic zone in Bangladesh. You can build an economic zone in our country like Bhutan’s economic zone. In the meantime, we have given India, Japan and South Korea the opportunity to build an economic zone in Bangladesh. If you want, I can provide an economic zone in Kurigram.

At the end of the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs. A.K. Abdul Momen briefed this information. The minister said that in the meeting, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina proposed to Bhutan to build an economic zone in Bangladesh for mutual benefit. Bhutan is a happy country. They do not want to endanger the environment of their country. For this reason, Sheikh Hasina gave this proposal to the King of Bhutan who wanted to build an administrative economic zone in his country while keeping the environment intact.

The King and Queen of Bhutan praised the economic progress of Bangladesh under the dynamic leadership of Sheikh Hasina. Dr. Momen said that they also discussed various family matters during the 50-minute meeting. Prime Minister’s Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman F. Rahman, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Mohammad Shahriar Alam, Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister were present in the briefing among others. Tofazzel Hossain Mia, Foreign Secretary Masood Bin Momen, Prime Minister’s Speech Writer M Nazrul Islam and High Commissioner of Bangladesh to UK Saida Muna Tas.
