A massive fire at Bangabazar market

A massive fire broke out at the Bangabazar market on Tuesday morning.

The fire is now spreading to the opposite side of the road, prompting the closure of all roads around the market to ensure the smooth operation of firefighting efforts.

Due to the presence of garment products and different types of clothes in the market, the fire has been reportedly increasing fast, while black smoke is covering the surroundings.

Currently, 47 units of fire service are working to bring the fire under control. However, due to the severity of the fire, they are facing water shortages which is hindering the firefighting efforts.

According to Rafi Al Faruk, duty officer of the Fire Service and Civil Defense control room, the fire was first reported at around 6:10am.

Witnesses reported seeing shop owners and employees frantically trying to remove goods from their stores and move them to a secure location. Unfortunately, many traders were unable to save their products, leading to significant losses.

The cause of the fire is not yet known. The market is known for its garment products and different types of clothes, which are fueling the fire’s spread.

Despite the fire’s rapid spread, no casualties have been reported so far.
