ACIMIT to exhibit at Expotextil in Lima, Peru
Expotextil, Peru’s leading textile and clothing trade fair, is set to take place in Lima from November 7 to 10, featuring a significant presence of Italian textile machinery manufacturers. The Italian Trade Agency and ACIMIT (the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers) are organizing a pavilion with 14 Italian companies, including 11 ACIMIT members such as Color Service, Ms Printing Solutions, and Santoni.
Peru’s textile industry, a key economic sector, is the world’s top producer of alpaca fibers (over 80% of global output) and has significant cotton cultivation. In 2023, Peru’s textile exports reached $1.87 billion, up 19.6% from 2022. ACIMIT’s president, Marco Salvadè, highlighted the strategic importance of Italian participation at Expotextil, given Peru’s need to modernize its machinery and enhance production quality. Italy, a leading supplier to Peru’s textile sector, exported approximately €18 million in machinery to Peru in 2023, with an additional €8 million in sales during the first half of 2024.
