Bangladesh Sustainability Alliance (BSA) to address the sustainable development agenda

The Bangladesh Sustainability Alliance (BSA) was recently introduced as a platform to address broader sustainable development goals by tackling plastic pollution and promoting circularity. Founded by BRAC, Pran-RFL Group, Standard Chartered Bangladesh, Unilever Bangladesh Ltd, Bangladesh Petrochemical Company Ltd (BPCL), Marico Bangladesh Ltd, InterContinental Dhaka, and PepsiCo Bangladesh, the BSA aims to implement programs, initiatives, and actions that provide practical solutions.

The alliance, launched at Inter Continental, Dhaka, emphasizes the importance of engaging various industries, not just large multinational companies, to collectively address sustainability challenges. Saber Hossain Chowdhury, special envoy to the prime minister for climate change, encouraged diverse engagement for effective impact.

Mr. Zaved Akhtar, chairman and managing director of Unilever Bangladesh, highlighted innovative strategies to reduce virgin plastic use, collect plastic waste, and promote circular practices in Bangladesh. Mr. Naser Ezaz Bijoy, CEO of Standard Chartered Bangladesh, emphasized the commitment to long-term goals related to climate change, social equality, and equitable globalization.
