BASF’s ULTRA herbicide get US EPA approval

BASF’s new Liberty ULTRA herbicide, featuring Glu-L Technology, has gained U.S. EPA approval and is now available, pending state clearances. This advanced herbicide, designed for glufosinate-enabled crops like cotton, soybean, corn, and canola, shows 20% better weed control, outperforming generic glufosinate in most tests. Liberty ULTRA targets resistant weeds, including palmer amaranth, waterhemp, and giant ragweed, with improved efficacy and efficiency.

Thanks to BASF’s Liberty Lock formulation, it offers better leaf adhesion and nearly three times more absorption into weeds, covering 33% more area per gallon at a reduced application rate. Liberty ULTRA marks BASF’s first trait-enabled knockdown herbicide, paving the way for more Glu-L Technology-based products.
