BCI signs MoU with Indian Chamber to accelerate trade relation
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed with the Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI) and Bharat Chamber of Commerce (BCC), India in the capital on Sunday.
Anwar-ul Alam Chowdhury (Parvez), president of the BCI and NG Khaitan, president of the BCC signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations, reads a press release.
Both sides believe that a new door will be opened in terms of business expansion of the two countries as a result of the MoU.
To exchange business information and expand cooperation, India Chamber will set up the “Dhaka Desk” at its office and the “Kolkata Desk” at the BCI office.
It will also enhance the exchange of information about opportunities to participate in trade fairs, exhibitions and seminars held in Bangladesh and West Bengal and will provide the two chambers to work for the business and investment development of the two countries.
BCI President said that Bangladesh currently has various potential sectors including light engineering, agro-based industrial sector, blue economy and information technology where India can cooperate and work in joint ventures.
There are opportunities to work on technical and skill development and training
The President of India Chamber said that Bangladesh and India are fast-growing economies and densely populated countries and the vast consumer class is the strength.
“We agree with the BCI President and we will start joint ventures on potential sectors including development and tanning, light engineering, and agro-based industrial sector. Bharat Chamber wants to organize a business summit in Kolkata next year and everyone from Bangladesh is invited,” he added.
At the event, senior vice-president of BCI, Preeti Chakraborty, vice-president, Mohammad Yunus, directors Shahidul Islam Niru, Delwar Hossain Raja, Rotarian Engineer Md Mohabbat Ullah, Dia Haider Mithu, Yashoda Jiban Deb Nath, Shahid Alam, Ruslan Nasir, Khair Mia, Nazmul Anwar, Ishakul Hossain Sweet, Salim Jahan was present and BCI Senior Vice President Naresh Pachisia, Rajakumar Aggarwal, Members Vikram Tantia, Somesh Dasgupta, Arindam Mukhopadhyay, Raghvendra Gupta, Ramesh Kumar Maheshwari, Hemant Khaitan, Keka Sharma, Secretary General A Abhik Roy, were present.
