C&A Textiles starts trial production after a long pause

After a pause of five years, C&A Textiles, a listed company, has returned to production, media reported.
According to the reports, the dyeing unit of the company started a trial production on Saturday and the full production is expected to start after the successful trial run. The listed textile maker was shut down in 2017 due to loan defaults by its former owners.
The dyeing unit will produce 25 tonnes of cloth daily. However, the garment unit of the company is not ready yet to go into operation.
According to the media reports, Alif Group recently acquired the company and the company had cleared its longstanding loan dues thanks to Alif Group, the new owner of the company which invested Tk50 crore as a share money deposit.
After the acquisition in 2021, the company had said it would return to production in January this year though it was delayed because of some complexities and the lack of necessary machinery.
C&A Textiles was established in 2001.
