Chic Wings to invest in BEPZA
Chic Wings (BD) Lingerie Co Ltd, a Singapore-China joint venture, will invest $18 million to establish a garment manufacturing facility in Bangladesh’s BEPZA Economic Zone. The factory will produce 30 million pieces of various undergarments annually, including briefs, bras, boxers, and camisoles, and is expected to create 3,000 jobs for Bangladeshis.
An agreement was signed in Dhaka between BEPZA’s investment promotion member, Md Ashraful Kabir, and Chic Wings’ Managing Director, Lijuan Chen, with BEPZA’s Executive Chairman Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman pledging support for the company’s operations. Located in Mirsharai, Chattogram, BEPZA is Bangladesh’s largest economic zone. To date, 36 companies have committed a total of $868.5 million in investments there, with three already operational.
