Egypt is keen to increase bi-lateral trade with Bangladesh
Egypt has shown keen interest in boosting bilateral trade with Bangladesh, with the possibility of signing a joint protocol between the two nations. The Minister of Textiles and Jute, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, shared this development following a courtesy meeting with the Egyptian Ambassador to Bangladesh, Omar Mahim Eldin Ahmed Fahmi, at the ministry’s conference room. The meeting included the presence of Abdur Rauf, the Secretary of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, and Mina Makari, the second secretary of the embassy.
Mr. Nanak highlighted that the Egyptian ambassador conveyed steadfast support for Bangladesh’s current government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The ambassador congratulated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on her fifth-term government and commended the country’s development under her leadership. Notably, 2023 marked the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Egypt and Bangladesh, and the ambassador expressed optimism about the continued friendly ties in the future.
Ambassador Omar Fahmy emphasized Egypt’s sincere belief that Bangladesh is a friendly nation, citing historical relations. He conveyed Egypt’s interest in fostering the expansion and development of Bangladesh’s cultural education and trade, including various agricultural products such as jute and cotton.
