Garment export grew by 10.8% in July-October, FY 24-25
Bangladesh’s merchandise exports rose by 21% year-on-year to $4.13 billion in October, driven by increased garment shipments, according to the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB). From July to October in FY 2024-25, total exports reached $15.78 billion, marking a 10.8% increase. Garment exports, comprising over 84% of total exports, grew 22.8% to $12.81 billion. The growth is attributed to a swift recovery from previous disruptions due to student protests, which had impacted production and logistics.
Knitwear and woven garment exports rose by 12.08% and 10.48%, respectively. However, garment orders for the upcoming season remain lower, with a 6% drop in exports to the U.S., Bangladesh’s largest garment market. Other sectors, such as frozen foods and leather goods, also saw growth, while jute exports declined due to anti-dumping duties in India and the Russia-Ukraine war.
