Japan, India and Bangladesh has huge potential to boost triangle cooperation

An international trade analyst emphasized the potential for triangular cooperation among Bangladesh, India, and Japan to stimulate trade, business, and economic growth due to shared similarities in climate, culture, and commerce. This cooperation could be further enhanced if Bangladesh and India sign a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), akin to the existing CEPA between India and Japan. Tripartite collaboration would facilitate sustainable infrastructure development and attract investment, particularly following Bangladesh’s impending graduation to a developing country status in 2026. The analyst highlighted opportunities for Bangladesh to engage in trade with India’s northeastern region and leverage Japan’s involvement in development projects in this area.

Moreover, Bangladesh’s status as a sourcing destination for global clothing brands and its potential for increased exports to Japan and India were underscored. Strong cultural, economic, and strategic ties among the three countries, alongside ongoing infrastructure investments, underscored the prospects for enhanced cooperation. Challenges faced by the trio could be addressed collectively, utilizing maritime connectivity and improved border trade routes. Efforts to improve the business environment and infrastructure were also emphasized to attract further investment.
