“Magical Threads of Bangladesh” showcased by Bibi Russell in Amman, Jordan

The Bangladesh Embassy in Amman recently celebrated Bangladesh’s 53rd anniversary of independence and National Day with a unique fashion show featuring renowned fashion designer Bibi Russell and female Bangladeshi textile industry workers employed in Jordan as models. The event, titled “Magical Threads of Bangladesh,” was attended by Jordanian Minister of State for Prime Ministry Affairs Wajih Tayeib Azaizeh and dignitaries from various sectors.

Ambassador Nahida Sobhan highlighted the event’s aim to break social barriers and promote inclusivity by showcasing Bangladeshi culture through fashion. She emphasized Bangladesh’s economic growth under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s leadership and its significant contributions to global markets, particularly in textiles. The success of Bangladesh’s textile industry, driven by female workers from underprivileged backgrounds, was highlighted, positioning Bangladesh as the world’s second-largest textile exporter. The fashion show celebrated Bangladesh’s history and culture, blending tradition with modernity to showcase the country’s vibrant customs and rich heritage on a global stage.
