Mark & Spencer opened its first clothing repair shop

M&S is partnering with SOJO, a leader in clothing repair and alterations, to launch the “M&S fixed by SOJO” hub in August. This initiative aims to help customers repair their M&S clothing and reduce textile waste, aligning with M&S’s Plan a roadmap to promote a circular economy. The service allows customers to select and schedule repairs online, with prices starting at £5 and a turnaround time of seven to ten days.

The collaboration builds on M&S’s existing garment donation program with Oxfam, which has collected over 36 million clothing items and raised around £23 million. The new repair service will be accessible via the M&S website, app, and physical stores, unifying all of the retailer’s circularity services.

Richard Price, M&S’s Managing Director of Clothing & Home, highlighted the ease this service will provide for customers to extend the life of their clothing. Josephine Phillips, Founder and CEO of SOJO, expressed excitement about the partnership, noting it as a significant step towards accessible and convenient clothing repairs and industry-wide change in the UK.
