National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Chairman Kamal Uddin Ahmed urged garment factory owners to ensure timely payment of workers’ salaries before Eid to prevent any group from exploiting the workers to disrupt law and order.
In a press release issued by the commission’s public relations department, Ahmed highlighted that various organizations representing garment workers protested in front of the Jatiya Press Club on June 1, demanding salary and bonus payments for Eid-ul-Azha 2024.
“The commission is monitoring the situation. Every year, there are demonstrations and marches to demand salary and bonus for garment workers, especially before Eid,” Ahmed noted.
The NHRC has called for timely payment of fair wages to maintain a peaceful environment.
