184 business leaders honored with CIP status for the year 2022

Bangladesh government has awarded Commercially Important Person (CIP) status to 184 distinguished businesspersons for the year 2022, recognizing their outstanding contributions to the country’s trade and export sectors.
The honor was conferred at a ceremony jointly organized by the Ministry of Commerce and the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) at a city hotel on Thursday.
State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu handed over CIP cards to the recipients at the event. Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) President Mahbubul Alam attended as the special guest, while Senior Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanthi Ghosh presided over the event. EPB Vice-Chairman AHM Ahsan delivered the welcome address.
Among the awardees, 140 businesspersons received CIP status under the export category for their exceptional performance across a wide range of sectors. These include raw jute and jute goods, leather and leather products, frozen foods, readymade garments (woven and knitwear), agricultural and agro-processed products, light engineering, pharmaceuticals, handicrafts, home textiles, ceramics, plastics, textile fabrics, software, furniture, and other miscellaneous products, including industries under EPZs.
In addition, 44 individuals from various trade bodies and chambers were recognized under the ex-officio category.
The CIP status is awarded annually to acknowledge notable contributions to Bangladesh’s trade and export growth. Cardholders enjoy a range of privileges, including priority access to tickets for air, rail, road, and water transport, as well as official letters of introduction from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for international travel.
They are also granted special access to the secretariat, vehicle identification privileges, invitations to national events, and priority cabin facilities in hospitals for themselves and their dependents.
