Prime minister wants more investment from Sweden in ICT and economic zones

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged Sweden to invest more in economic zones and information communication technology (ICT) in Bangladesh. She made this comment when a delegation led by CEO and President Helena Helmerson of Swedish clothing company H&M went to pay a courtesy call on the Prime Minister at Ganabhaban on 30th May.

Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim later disclosed this information to the media. In the meeting, Sheikh Hasina said that the government wants to expand the export basket by diversifying the export products. Bangladesh has its own economic policies and plans to provide employment, poverty alleviation, food security and healthcare.

Referring to the steps taken to deal with climate change, he said that the government is effectively dealing with the effects of climate change. The government is very aware of the impact of climate change and is working on it. At this time, the Prime Minister appreciated the Swedish action of not canceling any purchase order from Bangladesh during the bad times arising from the Covid-19 epidemic.

On the other hand, Swedish businessmen said that they have a special relationship with Bangladesh. We have been doing business with Bangladesh for three decades. We wish to take it further to our bilateral business with Bangladesh.
