EU showed interests to invest more in Bangladesh

EU Ambassador to Bangladesh, Mr. Charles Whiteley, emphasized the EU’s keen interest in expanding investment in Bangladesh, citing the nation’s significant potential for European investors. Mr. Whiteley highlighted Bangladesh’s substantial trade relationship with the EU, with annual exports exceeding 24 billion euros.

The EU is actively supporting Bangladesh’s smooth transition to developing nation status by 2026 and its potential eligibility for GSP Plus benefits in EU markets post-graduation.

The focus is on fostering greater EU investment in Bangladesh. These remarks were made following a meeting with Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali at the minister’s secretariat office in Dhaka.

Additionally, during a meeting with members of the Economic Reporters’ Forum (ERF), Mr. Whiteley reiterated the EU’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with Bangladesh.
