Workers in ready-made garments sector organized a flag rally and labor assembly in Savar’s Hemayetpur area, demanding payment of overdue salaries and Eid bonuses equivalent to one month’s pay. Approximately 100 workers from various factories participated in the demonstration under the Jatiya Garments Sramik Federation banner around 4:00 pm, as reported by our correspondent in Savar.
The flag rally commenced in front of the organization’s regional office in Hemayetpur and concluded at the Hemayetpur bus stand area on the Dhaka-Aricha highway, where a brief assembly was held under the leadership of Amirul Haque Amin, the organization’s president.
During the assembly, speakers urged RMG factory owners to settle all outstanding salaries and provide Eid bonuses equivalent to one month’s salary and allowances before Eid. Labor leaders also cautioned that if any owner fails to fulfill these obligations, their residences will be encircled, if necessary. However, they refrained from singling out any specific factory by name.
