Mahbubul Alam elected as the new president of FBCCI

Chittagong Chamber President Md. Mahbubul Alam was elected to be the next president of FBCCI. He will lead the FBCCI for the term 2023-25.

Election Board Chairman A Matin Chowdhury announced the name of the new president in a function at the FBCCI building in Motijheel in the capital on Wednesday (August 2). Amin Helali, the representative of Bangladesh Textbook Printers and Marketing Association, was announced as the senior vice-president at the event. Besides, the names of six vice-presidents including three from the chamber group and three from the association group were announced. Khairul Huda Chapal, Mohammad Anwar Sadat Sarkar and Yashoda Jeeban Debnath were elected as vice-presidents from the Chamber Group. Shami Kaiser, Rashedul Hossain Chowdhury Roni and Munir Hossain have become vice-presidents from the association group.

Two other members of the selection board, Shamshul Alam and MN Manjurul Haque, were present during the announcement of the new leadership at the FBCCI building. Also present was the current president of FBCCI, Md. Jasim Uddin and former president Sheikh Fazle Fahim. FBCCI newly elected president Mahbubul Alam said, “We will work together. I want everyone’s cooperation for this. From today we are all one. Our words and demands will be the same. At the end of the day our only identity is that we are businessmen.”

He also said that the business summit organized by the current president Md. Jasim Uddin was an excellent event. We are planning to hold a business summit in 2024. For this he wants the cooperation from all the members.

The FBCCI election was held on July 31st, among the 23 posts of the sector-based association, 15 people of the Combined Business Council and 8 of the Business Union Council were elected as directors.
