Azmeri and TM Jeans received LEED certification from UGBC

Two more factories in Bangladesh have achieved LEED certification from the US Green Building Council, highlighting the country’s commitment to sustainable manufacturing. TM Jeans Limited in Gazipur received a Platinum rating with 81 points, while Azmeri Composite Knit Limited in Dhaka earned a Gold rating with 63 points. This brings Bangladesh’s total number of green factories to 235, including 94 Platinum-rated, 127 Gold, and 10 Silver.

The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) emphasized the industry’s dedication to sustainability despite economic and domestic challenges. LEED, a globally recognized green building certification, evaluates factors like energy efficiency, water conservation, and waste management. Bangladesh has pursued LEED certification since 2012, starting with Vintage Denim Studio, and has since become a leader in sustainable and ethical garment production. The tragic Rana Plaza collapse in 2013 served as a catalyst for the industry’s focus on safety and sustainability.
