Deshbondhu group invested on manufacturing jumbo bags

Deshbandhu Group, a prominent conglomerate, is in the process of establishing a 100% export-oriented manufacturing plant dedicated to jumbo bags, with an investment totaling Tk 300 crore.

Jumbo bags, also referred to as flexible intermediate bulk containers, bulk bags, super sacks, big bags, or tonne bags, are large, heavy-duty industrial containers crafted from flexible fabric. They are specifically designed for storing and transporting dry, flowable products such as sand, fertilizer, chemicals, plastic granules, and more.

The Group has emphasized that the jumbo bags produced in its facility will adhere to fully European-standard specifications, utilizing state-of-the-art automated machinery. Construction of the factory, located in Narsingdi’s Palash upazila, is underway. During a recent visit in January, it was observed that the two-storied steel structure had been completed, with other aspects of the construction progressing.

Mr. Golam Mustafa, Chairman of Deshbandhu Group, stated, “We are investing approximately Tk 300 crore into this project. Machinery is being sourced both from Germany and China, with bookings already secured.”

According to Mohammad Arif Hossain, senior general manager of Deshbandhu Group, the company, operating under the name Flexible Intermediate Bulk Container Limited, anticipates employing around 2,000 individuals. The facility is projected to produce 1,000 tons of products monthly, resulting in the exportation of 100 containers of jumbo bags per month. Letters of credit have been initiated for machinery imports, with production slated to commence in June 2024. Arif Hossain further noted that the factory is situated on a 2-acre plot of land, with plans for expansion onto an additional 2 acres in the future.
