FBCCI urged for more Saudi investment in Bangladesh
The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), the country’s leading trade organization, has committed to providing comprehensive support to Saudi Arabian investors in Bangladesh. During a meeting in Riyadh on November 2nd, FBCCI President Mr. Mahbubul Alam emphasized the significant trade and investment partnership between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia, highlighting the 2.6 million Bangladeshi expatriates working in Saudi Arabia who contribute to Bangladesh’s economy through remittances.
Mr. Mahbubul Alam also acknowledged the longstanding friendly relationship between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia, with Saudi Arabia consistently supporting Bangladesh’s economic development and financial cooperation. He urged Saudi companies to explore investment opportunities in various sectors in Bangladesh, including the garment industry, furniture, ceramics, frozen food, freshwater fish, halal food, spices, leather goods, jute products, clean energy, infrastructure, auto part manufacturing, housing, IT, banking, and finance.
Additionally, Mr. Mahbubul Alam encouraged Saudi Arabia to consider recruiting more skilled manpower from Bangladesh. Abdul Aziz Saleh Al Faridi, Vice Chairman of the Federation of Saudi Chamber and Commerce, recognized the growth potential for business and investment in both countries, particularly highlighting Bangladesh’s remarkable progress in trade and commerce. He mentioned the success of the Saudi business team’s participation in the Bangladesh Business Summit 2023 and the formation of a joint business council between the two nations. This council aims to increase mutual trade and investment, identifying priority sectors such as energy, IT, healthcare, tourism, food products, logistics, garment industry, and manufacturing. A B2B matchmaking session was also held in collaboration with the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce during the meeting.
