Mr. SM Mannan (Kochi) assumed office yesterday as the newly elected president of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) for the 2024-2026 term, replacing Mr. Faruque Hassan. The transition occurred during the 41st annual general meeting (AGM) held at the BGMEA Complex in Uttara, where the outgoing board of directors passed on their responsibilities to the new board.
The AGM also saw the adoption of audited accounts for the year 2022-2023 and approval of the budget for 2023-2024. Additionally, other new office bearers of BGMEA were appointed, including Syed Nazrul Islam as first vice president and Khandoker Rafiqul Islam as senior vice president. The Sammilito Parishad, led by Kochi, claimed victory in all 35 directorship positions in the BGMEA elections held on March 9, securing 26 in Dhaka and 9 in Chittagong.
