Forum panel has secured a resounding victory in the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) biennial election, according to the final results released by the election commission.
Contested for 35 director positions—26 from the Dhaka region and 9 from Chattogram—the election concluded with the Forum panel, led by Mahmud Hasan Khan, winning 31 seats. The rival Sammilito Parishad panel managed to win only four.
Voting took place simultaneously on May 31 at designated polling centers in Dhaka and Chattogram. In Dhaka, the polling venue at the Radisson Blu Hotel saw 1,528 of 1,631 registered voters casting their ballots, with 103 votes declared invalid. Meanwhile, in Chattogram, 248 of 303 eligible members voted, with six votes invalidated.
Of the Forum panel’s 31 seats, 25 were secured in Dhaka and six in Chattogram. Sammilito Parishad claimed one seat in Dhaka and three in Chattogram, as confirmed by BGMEA Administrator Md Anwar Hossain.
Following the election, the newly elected board will nominate the president, vice-presidents, and other key office bearers for the 2025–2027 term.
