After Italy, direct shipping services to Barcelona and Rotterdam from Chittogong sea port

From July, 2022 direct shipping services between Chittagong and two European ports is going to be introduced. Swiss maritime logistics service provider Commodity Supplies AG has taken this new initiative to start the service with three of their chartered vessels to be operated from Barcelona in Spain to Chittogong and to the largest European port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands. Those three container ships named MV Spica, MV Andromeda J and MV Music had applied for the route permit through the agency named Reliance Shipping and logistic ltd. To the Chittogong Port Authority (CPA).
Earlier in February, an Italian shipping company launched a direct service between Chittagong and Italy, opening a new door to transport into European destinations avoiding transshipment ports. Bangladesh was suffering from a lack of direct shipping service to Europe, its biggest destination for the export. Currently, it is being transported through small-sized feeder vessels to four transshipment ports including Colombo, Singapore, Tanjung Pelepas and Port Klang of Malaysia and a few other ports in China. Then the containers are to be re-loaded into bigger mother vessels to ship to Europe, the USA and to other African destinations. They used to take around 40 to 45 days to reach destinations but due to direct shipping service, it would be possible to ship by 20 or 22 days.
