Bangladesh will participate in 50 international trade fairs across 27 countries during the current fiscal year (FY27) as part of a strategic initiative to expand export markets and connect local businesses with global buyers.
The decision was made at a meeting of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) held at its headquarters in Dhaka. The meeting also announced that the 31st Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) will begin on January 1, 2027, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Commerce.
The international exhibitions will primarily showcase products from 12 priority sectors, with the aim of enhancing Bangladesh’s export potential and creating new business opportunities for local manufacturers and exporters.
Speaking at the meeting, Commerce Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir said many small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) lack the financial capacity to independently explore overseas markets. He noted that participation in international trade fairs would enable these businesses to strengthen global networking, identify new buyers and expand their export reach.
The minister highlighted leather and leather goods, light engineering and agro-processing as sectors with strong potential to achieve double-digit export growth. He also stressed the importance of supporting emerging entrepreneurs and startups, noting that today’s leading companies once began as small businesses and should be given opportunities to grow into future export champions.
