BGMEA urging sympathy from global buyers
BGMEA has called on global buyers, apparel brands, and retailers to be sympathetic towards the country’s RMG industry amidst current challenges. During a meeting at the BGMEA office, BGMEA President S M Mannan Kochi stated that retailers assured they wouldn’t seek discounts, demand air shipments, or cancel orders due to recent production halts from violence and curfews.
Mr. Kochi highlighted the government’s efforts to control the situation and support export industries by quickly restoring internet services and expediting port operations. He confirmed that importers and exporters would not face demurrage charges for delays.
International retailers expressed concerns about shipment delays and urged local suppliers to ensure timely deliveries. They also emphasized the importance of uninterrupted high-speed internet for effective communication with their headquarters.
