BGMEA's initiative to identify suspicious foreign garment buyers

Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has sent a letter to its members, requesting detailed information including names of suspicious customers. The letter, sent on Saturday last, highlights the importance of considering the matter seriously. It states that many BGMEA members are being harassed by various foreign customer establishments. To address this, evidence against such customers will be compiled and measures will be taken against them. BGMEA President M.A. Mannan Kachi Baroi stated, “Some customers have been procuring goods under different big company names and have not paid. As a result, several businesses have suffered losses worth crores. We are compiling a list of such customers with detailed evidence. Many customers who have been victims of harassment do not come to us after the incident. Therefore, a letter has been sent to inform them about this matter.

It is not just a suspicion; a detailed list will be published with evidence. These incidents of harassment have increased since the time of the Corona pandemic. By publishing the list, we will take action against them.” The letter, signed by BGMEA Secretary General Mo. Fazlur Rahman, urges member organizations to consider the matter as extremely important.
